Organizatorzy Documentaire Campus Masterschool, is een serie workshops over alle fasen van de filmproductie en de internationale co-productie, Nodig regisseurs en producenten van documentaires om hun projecten in te dienen.

Warsztaty stanowią również przygotowanie do pichingu kończącego program Masterschool.

DCM is  looking for ideas for factual series, eenmalige documentaires, of cross-media projecten, from producers and directors who want to spread their wings and start producing for global markets and audiences.

What is the Documentary Campus Masterschool?
De Masterschool, is een Europa-brede ontwikkeling van programma-aanbod filmmakers een unieke gelegenheid om de internationale non-fictie toegang tot de markt. Het is een op maat gesneden programma waarin 15 European producer/director teams develop their documentaries at 4 workshops across Europe over an intensive nine-month period before pitching their ideas to commissioners.

Welke projecten kunnen worden ingediend?
• Producers and directors can apply with any type of documentary: geschiedenis, science, arts, wildlife, natural history, cross-platform, series, one-offs, theatrical films, factual entertainment – any factual format is welcome.
• De deelnemers moeten worden voorbereid op hun projecten te kunnen profiteren van de intensieve ontwikkeling van scripts.
• Het verhaal en de personages moeten de bevoegdheid hebben om een wereldwijd publiek te bereiken.
• Projecten die reeds internationaal zijn toon niet subsidiabel zijn als zijn ideeën die noodzaak om de productie te beginnen vóór het einde van het programma.

What happens on the Masterschool?
Participants are treated to four intensive week-long workshops delivered by international experts matched to the particular needs of each year’s Masterschool intake. Elke workshop vindt plaats in een andere Europese stad en heeft betrekking op verschillende aspecten van de internationale productie: storytelling voor internationaal publiek, how to finance films internationally, accessing international markets, the legal aspects of international co-productions, distribution, afzet, het creëren van een online aanwezigheid en pitching. Participants are given tools to help them develop their idea at and between each workshop with the aim of pitching it to a panel of international financiers at the end of the programme.

Tutors
Each team is allocated two specially-chosen tutors from among the most distinguished TV executives in the industry. Stages

The Final Pitching Session
At the end of the Documentary Campus Masterschool, the projects are ready to be launched onto the international market. meer dan 50 high-ranking commissioning editors and distributors come to the specially-arranged Masterschool Pitching Session after which, the vast majority of Masterschool projects receive funding.

Costs covered by Documentary Campus
Documentaire campus draagt de volledige kosten voor de beroepsopleiding van de geselecteerde 15 participants. Dit omvat:

• Training in vier workshops
• 2 tutors per participant
• Tutor bezoeken
• Internship in a European or North American production or distribution company (reiskosten, accommodation, markt vergoedingen, etc.)
• Staff, lecturers and organisational costs

This is made possible through the generous support of film funds, film institutes, broadcasters, companies and governmental bodies. Costs for the participants
During the compulsory four workshops, which will take place in different European cities, the participants will only have to cover costs for

Repayment
The project development and vocational training costs (up to 15,000 Euro per participant) zullen moeten worden terugbetaald aan de financierende instanties als de ontwikkelde project gaat in productie. The repayment is made out of the production budget. Therefore market-based project development costs are expected to be part of the final production budget.

Grants
Three participants from countries participating in the MEDIA Programme, who otherwise could not afford to take part, may apply for a grant to support their travel and accommodation costs during the four Masterschool workshops.
